On September 26–27, 2025, Mi-Hy will be at EMPOWER Université Paris-Saclay to share our latest research and lead a hands-on workshop on our bio-electric, circular hydroponic system powered by wastewater. Participants will learn about our integrated approach and get the chance to build microbial fuel cells (MFCs) using ceramics and activated carbon.

The workshop will show how microbial fuel cells integrate with hydroponics to support plant growth by making nitrogen and phosphates from wastewater available to plants, while generating electricity and water. This creates a closed-loop system that reduces the need for external fertilizers, combining wastewater treatment, renewable energy, and sustainable farming.

EMPOWER Université Paris-Saclay is the maker, scientific, and festive event of the 2025–2026 academic year at Université Paris-Saclay. The event brings together 30 exhibitors from STEAM fields (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics) to share their projects, explore new technologies, and reflect on the impact of innovation on society. Both internal and external exhibitors will be there to meet you, presenting their work through stands and workshops.

The event is organized by the Université Paris-Saclay network of fablabs and innovation spaces: FABLAB UPSaclay, the Design Spot, La Fabrique (CentraleSupélec), Food’InnLab (AgroParisTech), the 503 (Institut d’Optique Graduate School), CEA-INSTN, the INRAE incubator, and Génopole’s Shaker.

EMPOWER is open to all, offering a hands-on experience to explore the future of science, technology, and sustainable solutions.
